Best friends Dean and Tyler find themselves still tied to their wilting Ohio hometown. When a girl from their past appears offering a chance of escape, they are forced to confront the lost promises they made to themselves and each other. A new play about settling scores, realizing love, and perfecting a great burger marinade in the dying days of summer.
SEEKING:
Jessica: Caucasian Female, mid 40s. Waitress, attractive, and serious. Opinionated, highly-organized. Acts mature and self-sufficient, but wants a commitment from her boyfriend Dean and secretly longs for the acceptance of his friends. Gets caught playing the “parent” role too much. The worst anyone could say about her is that she’s practical. Loves Dean and doesn’t want to lose him, but knows she will survive either way.
Dean: Caucasian Male. Just turned 30, but is unemployed. Began a promising journalism career, but finds himself back in Ohio and out of work, after some time away. Good-looking, athletic, with a natural smile. He wants to believe he’s better than he really is, and is terribly conflicted about the direction his life is going and his lack of participation in it. Lives with Jess, and things are going well until Charlotte comes back into his life. A bit of a ‘regular guy’ who is smart and charming.
Charlotte Finn: Caucasian Female. Late 20s- early 30s. Hers was a notorious name in high school, but mostly because she was smart and ambitious, and was clearly going to get out of the Midwest. Charismatic, but can be quirky and dark, with damage underneath. She’s a fast thinker, usually three steps ahead in a conversation, and is capable of grandeur. She never realized her dreams and goals, and comes back to town and shakes up the lives of Dean, Jess, Nan, and Tyler.
Walt: Caucasian Male. 40s. Grizzled, but whittled down and softened by Portland. Kind and jocular in his mannerisms yet he is very intimidating and confrontational. Off putting, Out of place. Has experienced the world. Seems innocuous, but there’s more to him than meets the eye. Married to Charlotte: it’s a completely odd match. Lives in Portland with her, and accepts her for all her flaws, even if she seems to be leaving him. He knows she can’t live without him, and will win in the end. He is truly in love with her.
NYC auditions will be held on 1/13 and 1/17/12 by appointment only. No need to re-submit if you have already submitted by e-mail. For consideration, mail picture and resume to:
